Turnpike Four Setup

Turnpike 3.05 / 4 Setup

Please see our Important Notice, we recommend that you read it before you proceed.

This example covers Turnpike 3.05 and later.

If you are setting up a Demon account with Turnpike click here.
If you are installing Turnpike for the first time click here.

Follow these simple steps to install Turnpike 3.05/4
Insert the Turnpike CD into the CD-ROM drive.
This should start the Autorun file.

If the CD does not run automatically, double-click on My Computer
and then on the CD-ROM icon.
In the resulting window you should see Setup.exe, double-click on Setup.exe which should start the installation of Turnpike.

This configuration guide will help you to configure Turnpike to work with a Demon Internet Connection.

After installing the program a number of configuration screens will be displayed. See below:

Choose your access provider.
Click Next.

Choose your modem, and your Point of Presence or access number.

Click on Next

Enter your Demon Hostname.
See our Names & Password Conventions  guide.
Click OK

Enter your Demon Login password. (This is case sensitive)
Click OK

Enter your company name, or if you're using Turnpike privately you can type in your name.
Click OK

Click Details to edit the connection details.

If you need to edit the connection details, save them when finished by clicking on the Save button.

Click Configure and choose Hosts from the resulting menu.

Enter your hostname and domain as shown above, in all the text boxes; Organisation can be left blank.
Click OK

Click again on Configure and choose Email Transfer from the resulting menu.

In the Mail Gateway text box enter post.demon.co.uk in lower case.
Put a tick in Enable POP3 collection check box by clicking on the check box.
Click Add

Enter pop3.demon.co.uk in lower case into the Server name text box.
Enter your Hostname in lower case into the Mailbox text box.
Enter your POP3 Password which is case sensitive into the Password text box.
And finally put a tick in the Enable pop3 server check box by clicking on the check box.
Click OK

Click on Configure and then choose News Collection from the resulting menu.

Click Add

Enter news.demon.co.uk in the Server text box.
Click OK

Click on the Mail\News button, i.e. the box with the blue circle with an arrow pointing NorthEast.

The screen shot above shows your Turnpike desktop.
To set up news collection click on File > New > News Stand

If you have not downloaded a complete list of the news groups available Turnpike should start downloading them,
provided you are connected to Demon. If it does start, let it finish, as Turnpike will try to download all the news groups
until it has completed the operation.

Once this is done, you can subscribe to any newsgroups you wish by clicking on the Add button.
Click Next

Enter your username in the Email Name text box.

Enter your Full name in the Name text box.
Choose your signature file by clicking on the Browse button. Click Next.

Finally enter a name for the Newsstand and click Finish.
