Turnpike Three Setup

Please see our Important Notice, we recommend that you read it before you proceed.

This example covers Turnpike 3.04 and earlier.

If you are setting up a Demon account with Turnpike, click here.
If you are installing Turnpike for the first time click here.

Follow these simple steps to install Turnpike 3
Insert the Turnpike CD into the CD-ROM drive.
This should start the Autorun file.
If the CD does not run automatically, double-click on My Computer and then on the CD-ROM icon.
In the resulting window you should see Setup.exe, double-click on Setup.exe, which should start the installation of Turnpike.

Choose an option to install.
If you are the owner (i.e. you hold the full Site ID) choose the first option Turnpike v3
Click on Next

This is a confirmation screen, if you want to continue click on Next

This screen shows the installation of the Install Wizard

This screen explains that you must read the included WordPad text.
The process will not continue until you close the WordPad window.
If WordPad is occupying the full screen you can close it with the X in the topright hand corner.

A quick explanation of what's going on, click Next.

Choose the option Typical.
Click Next.

A confirmation screen, letting you know of your installation choices.
Click Next.

A Licence Agreement screen, this is for Microsoft Internet Explorer.
If you agree with the licence click Yes, clicking another option will cancel the installation.

Click Yes to choose which Internet components you wish to install or,
clicking No will install the most common components, and skip the next screen shot.

This screen is a result of clicking Yes on the previous screen.
Choose both components.

Installation complete, now all that needs to be done is setup connect.
This is the part of Turnpike that handles the connection from your computer to Demon, and the Internet.

Choose from the drop down list the option you want, we suggest the Microsoft Winsock.
Click on OK.

If everything is ok and you don't have any other applications running, click Restart Now
Or choose Do not Restart, close down the other applications (saving any work), then restart the computer.

Enter a login name in the Sign on as text box.

Enter a password in the Password text box.
Note: It may be an idea to note these down somewhere so as not to forget them.
Or you could leave them blank, but this would not be secure, has anyone else access to your computer?

Enter the site ID as shown above, you can find this on your registration card or on the diskette and
then enter the site secret. Remember to write this down, don't forget this as it's not recoverable.

Choose Demon from the dropdown menu.
Then click Continue

Choose the appropriate option, the normal choice here would be No, skip the next screen shot.
Choosing Yes will show the next screen shot.

Enter your Domain name, this should all be lower case.
Click Ok

Enter your Demon Hostname, this should all be lower case.
Click Ok

Enter your Login Password, this is case sensitve.

Enter an organisation name or private name, this can be anything you wish.

You will now need to configure your modem, or connection to the Internet.
Click Ok

Choose your modem from the list and choose continue.

Choose the ROMP or access number you wish to dial, in the example we used 0845212666.

Enter your full name in the Name text box.
Click OK

Click on Connect to connect to Demon.
