Macintosh Outlook Express 4 eMail

To start, load Outlook Express and click on Edit on the menu bar and select Preferences.

Add a New Email Account:
From the Preferences box select Accounts then Email.

Select New Account.
You will be prompted for a new account name. This is only to identify your Demon account from others accounts and may be anything you wish.
e.g. Demon Internet Mail

Click on OK. You will then be required to fill in the following details.

Full Name: This can be anything you wish - it is how your name will appear on emails that you send.
Email Address: username@hostname.demon.co.uk
SMTP Server: post.demon.co.uk
Account ID: username@hostname
POP Server: pop3.demon.co.uk

We will now look at how to edit an email account in Outlook Express.

In the Preferences box select the account you wish to edit from the Mail Account window.

Replace the existing details with those shown above.

To conclude the editing of the account, click on the OK button.

In all email clients there are other fields that are useful, for instance:

Reply to address: This can be used to have replies to your emails sent to the email address with
which you sent the original email or to another email address, for instance your work email.

Generally the reply to address is your default email address.

Display name: This is the name that appears on emails when you send them. You can use capital letters
and spaces here; so, you could have something like Mr K J Wood in the display name field.
