How to setup and connect to the Windows 2000 Connection Setup Please see our Important Notice, we recommend that you read it before you proceed. Double-click on My Computer and then double-click on the Control Panel. Double-click on Network and Dial-up Connections.
Your screen should now look like the one below : Double-click on Make New Connection and you will be presented with the following screen : Click on Next and select Dial-up to the Internet.
Click Next to continue to the next screen.
Select I want to set up my Internet connection manually and click on Next.
Select I connect through a phone line and a modem, then click on Next.
Enter the area code and phone number in the relevant boxes, in this example we have used 0845 2120666. Click on the Advanced button to display the following screen:
For the connection type, select PPP, and put a tick in Disable LCP Extensions For the Logon procedure select None. Click on the Addresses tab to enter our DNS numbers. Primary DNS is 158.152.1.58 Secondary DNS is 158.152.1.43
If you are connecting via a modem: Click Internet service provider automatically provides one under IP address. Click Always use the following under DNS server address. Enter 158.152.1.58 in Primary DNS and 158.152.1.43 in Alternate DNS. If you are connecting via ISDN: Click Internet service provider automatically provides one under IP address. Click OK to take you back to the screen below.
Click on Next to continue to the following screen.
Enter your Demon hostname in lowercase Enter your password, this is case sensitive Click on Next to continue.
Enter a connection name, for example Demon, and click Next. Click here to set up your email. Windows 2k email bounce problem The following advice may be useful in solving the email bounce problem encountered by many Demon customers who are Windows 2000 users. By default, we will attempt to deliver email to your machine via SMTP whenever you connect. If you do not intend to receive email via SMTP (e.g. you are using email software such as Outlook or Outlook Express configured to receive email from Demon via POP3), you MUST ensure the SMTP Service that Windows 2000 may automatically run is disabled. This can be done by the following:
Now you will no longer suffer from email being rejected and bounced back to the sender. Alternatively you can disable SMTP mail delivery from us by using our Webpassword utility .
