Step 1 - Setting up TCP/IP

Open control panel by selecting Start > Settings > Control Panel.

You should get a screen very similar to the one shown below. You should now double-click the Network icon.

Once you have double-clicked on the Network icon you should be presented with a screen very similar to the one below.

If you are on a Local Area Network (LAN) then you should consult your Network Administrator before going any further,
as changing the numbers in this section could result in the loss of your LAN connectivity.

Note: If you want your computer to connect to other Internet Service Providers, click here.

You need to have the following three network components installed:

This should open a screen very similar to the one below, if not you should click on the IP Address tab.

Click the button to Specify an IP Address, then type in your Demon static IP address in the IP Address box.

(This will have been given to you when you opened your account)

The subnet mask section may need a bit of an explanation:

Demon's IP addresses start with either 158... , 193... , 194... or 212...

If your IP starts with 158 - then your subnet mask should be 255.255.0.0

If it starts with a 193 , 194 or 212 - then the subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0

Enter the correct subnet mask relevant to your IP address.
