Windows 95 Dial-up Networking Setup Please see our Important Notice, we recommend that you read it before you proceed. Note: Customers wishing to have unmetered access in conjunction with BT Surftime should use the appropriate G5 number shown on our access number page. This page is designed to give you enough information to un-install and re-install Windows 95/98 Dial-Up Networking. Stage 1 - Un-installing Dial-up Networking.
Then you need to double-click on Control Panel. From here you can select Add / Remove Programs, and click on the Windows Setup tab.
From here you can select Add / Remove Programs, and click on the Windows Setup tab.
In order to Remove Dial-Up Networking, double click on the word Communications When you do this it will be presented with a screen that looks similar to this.
Now remove the tick from Dial-Up Networking and select OK. This will take you back to the Windows Setup screen where you now need to click Apply and then OK. After doing this you should be prompted to put your Windows CD in the CD ROM drive, and after the files have installed the computer should prompt you to restart. (If it doesn't, close the Control Panel then click the Start button, select Shut Down, then select Restart.) Stage 2 - Re-installing Dial-Up Networking. Make sure that you have your Windows 95/98 Media CD (this procedure is not possible without it). Next go into My Computer
Then you need to double-click on Control Panel. From here, select Add / Remove Programs, again click on the Windows Setup tab.
In order to Install Dial-Up Networking Double Click on the word Communications.
When this is done you will be presented with a screen that looks similar to this.
Now Add the tick in the Dial-Up Networking and Hyper Terminal (see note below) This will take you back to the Communications Screen where you now need to click Apply and then OK. After doing this you should be prompted to put your Windows CD in the CD ROM drive, and after the files have installed the computer should prompt you to restart. (If it doesn't, close the Control Panel then click the Start button, select Shut Down, then select Restart.) Note: Hyper Terminal, this is not needed for Dial-up Networking, The Installation is now complete.
