Free Agent

Open Free Agent and click on Options and then choose General Preferences.

Click on the user tab.

In the Email Address box, enter your email address

In the Full Name box, enter your name.

Finally in the Reply To box, enter email address again.

See our Names & Password Conventions guide.

Then click System.

In the News Server box, enter news.demon.co.uk
In the Email Server box, enter post.demon.co.uk

Click OK

Free Agent is an off-line reader, which means you can download news groups and articles from the Internet and then disconnect from Demon and read the articles at your leisure.

You should already have a list of all the newsgroups on your machine. If not, go to Online and select Refresh Groups List.

It's now time to take a look through them to see which ones are of interest. Any groups which appeal to your taste should be subscribed to.

All subscribing does is separate the subscribed groups from the unsubscribed groups.

You can subscribe and unsubscribe to any groups at any time.

To subscribe to a group, highlight the group by clicking on it once with your left mouse button, and then selecting Group and Subscribe.

Tips and tricks:

Never post messages in the wrong groups (called cross posting).

Where possible make your postings to the point and accurate.
