INTRODUCTION
PIRCH is an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) client for the Microsoft Windows® 95/98 Platforms and Windows® NT. This version is NOT designed for windows 3.x.
FEATURES
Easy to use interface (Isn't it a requirement that all programs say this?)
Supports all IRC2 commands
Allows multiple server connections... so you can be on Efnet, Undernet and Dalnet at the same time
User definable aliases and variables
User definable event handling
Customisable popup menu
Supports CTCP (Client to Client Protocols)
CTCP can be disabled to stop flooders (if you don't know what this means... don't worry about it yet)
Supports DCC (Direct Client to Client) commands for file transfers and secure private chats
Drag-n-Drop DCC or Batch sending
No limit on number of channels (except those imposed by the IRC network)
Includes a personal bio (biography) feature...
Channel and message logging to text files
WWW Link and Netscape interface
Internal UNIX finger client & DNS lookup
Extensive help file (does anyone really read help files?)
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Microsoft Windows® 95/98 or Windows® NT System 4.0
4mb RAM
32 Bit Winsock i.e. Microsoft Windows® 95/98 Dialup Networking, etc... Windows® NT RAS

After installing the Pirch, click on Start > Programs > Pirch98 > Pirch98
You will then see a similar window to the one below.

Click on IRC

From here you need to select the network and server you want to connect to from the drop-down boxes at the top of the server connection panel.
Enter your real name in the Name field.
Enter your email address in the username field.
Enter your first choice of nickname in the Nickname field.
Enter your second choice of nickname in the Alternate field.
Click Save Profile (so that you do not have to enter this information every time you use Pirch)
When this is done, click Connect.

Once Pirch is connected you can start chatting with anyone else that is connected.
Some IRC Commands:
/join #[channel_name] = Join a channel.
/part #[channel_name] = Leave a channel.
/nick nickname = Change your IRC nickname once online.
/msg nick_name your_message = Send a private message to someone.
/query nickname = Open a private window to talk to someone.
/quit = Quit IRC.
/me = emote a wording i.e. "/me types this" (without quote marks) looks like this *yournickname types this.
/whois nickname = Gives information on the person behind the nickname.
