Golive 6 new site

( Note: This software is not supported by the Demon Helpdesk ).

Please see our Important Notice, we recommend that you read it before you proceed.

The most important thing to do with GoLive 6 is create a site. Without this GoLive is very limited in the tasks it can perform.

[ Create a new site ]

Go to File and select New Site.

[ File menu ]

Select Single User or Workgroup. In general the option to select here would be Single user.

Click Next.

[ New Site ]

Select the appropriate option and click Next.

[ Choose a name for the site ]

Choose a name for the site; this can be the name of your homepages, or just a friendly name, it does not matter as it's only a directory name on the local machine.

[ Directory location ]

Select a directory for the site folder using the Browse
button or keep the default setting.

Click Finish.

[ The new site index.html file ]

GoLive will give a blank index.html to start you off.

[ Open the file for writing ]

To edit the index.html file go to File and select Open.

[ Viewing the file ]

To see the html code, click Source.
To see the page layout click Layout
To see a preview click Preview.

[ Preview ]

Above is the preview of the index.html file. We edited the index.html and added <p>Hello World</p>.

[ Save file ]

To save any changes made to the index.html file, go to File and select Save or Save As. GoLive should display the correct directory automatically.

[ Save file ]

click Save.

Once you have created your website upload it to homepages.demon.co.uk with the included FTP client.
