Golive 6 ftp

( Note: This software is not supported by the Demon Helpdesk ).

To use the GoLive FTP client, follow the steps below. Before using the FTP client you must have created a site first. To see this click here

The basic GoLive program.
Click on File.

Select FTP Browser.

To enter a new FTP Server click on the Server drop down box. Select Edit Server.

Click on the New Item icon as shown above.

Nickname : Enter a friendly name for the connection, i.e. My homepages. Server : Enter the server name, i.e. homepages.demon.co.uk - Don't worry about ftp - GoLive will add this automatically.

Directory : You can enter a default directory here, optional.

Username : Enter your Demon hostname. (hostnames are all lower case)

Password : Enter your Demon logon password. (passwords are case sensitive)

If the password box is greyed out, tick the Save check-box to enable password entry.

Click Ok

Click Connect.

If GoLive FTP does not connect, click the Server drop down box. Select Edit Server.

Highlight the server you wish to edit. Click Advanced.

Place a tick in Use Passive mode.
Click Ok and Ok again.
Click Connect.

To upload files:
Once connected, you can upload your selected files by dragging and dropping from any selected directory. To do this go to My Computer navigate to the directory where your homepages files are kept, highlight the files to upload, click once on the files to highlight them, click on them again and hold the mouse button down, drag them to the relevant directory in GoLive FTP and release the mouse button. The selected files will then be uploaded to the ftp server.

To download files:

To download files, select the required files, right mouse click on the files and select Download Files.
