Demon Dial-up Conversion Please see our Important Notice, we recommend that you read it before you proceed. You will first need to install and configure your ADSL Modem or Router using the Installation instructions inside your Demon Broadband Guide. To install your Demon Express Total Alcatel SpeedTouch 330 modem for Windows click here, and select your version of Windows from the "ADSL Connectivity" section. To install your Demon Express for Mac Hermstedt Webshuttle for OS 9.x and 10.2.4, click here. To setup your Demon Express SpeedTouch USB for Windows 98, click here. To setup your Demon Express SpeedTouch USB for Mac OS 7 to 9.1, click here. It will now be necessary for you to test that BT have enabled ADSL on your telephone line, before converting your dial up account. Once your Demon account has been converted to ADSL, you will no longer be able to connect using your Demon dial up account. Therefore it is important that the test in Step 1 is completed. Step 1 – Line test To ensure BT have enabled your telephone line to support ADSL correctly, you will need to use the following details to connect and test the service. Please enter the details below into Dial Up Networking on Windows, or Remote Access/Internet Connect if you are using a Mac. Alternatively, if you are using a Router this information will be entered in your Router configuration screen. Username: "bt_test_user@your connection pipe" Password: This is not generally required and can be left blank depending on the ADSL equipment you are using. You may be prompted for a password, in which case please enter a dummy password. Telephone Number: This is not generally required and can be left blank depending on the ADSL equipment you are using. If you are prompted for a telephone number, please enter 0 (zero) for the area code and 38 for the telephone number. After entering this information, please attempt to connect. If your equipment reports that it has successfully authenticated/connected, please disconnect and proceed with the conversion process outlined in step 2. However, if it appears you have not authenticated/connected successfully, it is likely the above test has failed. In this case, please check you have entered the correct server settings and relevant Modem or Router information. These Generic Settings can be found in the "Settings and Information" page in the installation guide, or online from our helpdesk area. If you require further assistance please contact the Helpdesk on 0845 2720040 and they should be able to help diagnose the problem. PLEASE NOTE: that if you have a SOLO account the helpdesk can only give generic advice on configuration and settings. Step 2 - Conversion Process This should only be done if Step 1 was successful.
Step 3 – Using your new ADSL connection The login details entered in Step 1 for the ADSL line test, must now be updated as follows: Username: Change your username from bt_test_user@your connection pipe to the ADSL login name shown on your account card. Password: Enter your password as chosen in the conversion process. Please note this is case sensitive. You should now be ready to start using your new ADSL service.
