THUS Wins Major Communications Contract For Scottish Prison Service THUS plc today announced it has won a contract to upgrade and streamline the Scottish Prison Service's (SPS) telecommunications network. During this period, THUS will provide the SPS with a range of services that will improve the communications network to the full SPS estate including its headquarters in Edinburgh, 15 prisons and young offenders' institutions throughout Scotland, its Central Store facility and the Scottish Prison Service College. The new services and systems being provided by THUS include virtual private network and internet between all 19 Scottish Prison Service sites as well as MPLS (multi-protocol label switching), which will enable SPS to manage telecom data and traffic more effectively. Bill Allan, chief executive officer of THUS, said: "We are delighted that the Scottish Prison Service has chosen THUS to provide these services following a competitive and thorough tender process. "We have a strong track record in providing quality services to the public sector, government and corporate customers and this contract is a reflection of quality we offer." Gavin Syme, the Prison Service's Information Support Systems Technical Manager added: "The SPS is pleased to be working with THUS. We selected them after a lengthy and competitive procurement process, through which they demonstrated they could provide a scalable and effective solution for our current and future needs." |
