THUS confirms £42 million contract with Glasgow City Council

THUS Group plc today announced that on Friday 21 May, it signed the contract with Glasgow City Council for the £42 million project over six years to upgrade and replace the council's communications network infrastructure.

In March the Company was selected as the preferred bidder for the contract. THUS was awarded the contract after producing the most "innovative and strategic" tender. Twenty-nine organisations originally expressed an interest in the contract and THUS was chosen ahead of NTL and BT in the final rounds of bidding.

Bill Allan, Chief Executive Officer of THUS, said: "We are delighted to have signed this contract which forms part of our drive to deliver value added Managed Solutions to our customers. Glasgow City Council is one of the largest UK local authorities and the upgrade of their network is vitally important to them. We are very much looking forward to working with them to provide a fully converged Internet Protocol network to underpin their "Access Glasgow" programme, which is dedicated to using technology to enhance delivery of public services."
