THUS Helps TELE2 Challenge BT In Domestic Voice Market

THUS Wins Multi-Million Pound Contract With Tele2

THUS plc, one of the UK's leading providers of voice, networking, Internet and contact centre services, today announced a new multi-million pound contract to support the UK launch of Tele2, one of the leading alternative pan-European telecommunications companies. THUS is providing the systems and routing technology to carry Tele2's domestic voice traffic over its advanced national fibre optic network.

Tele2 launched its UK telephony service in October 2003 offering UK consumers exceptional service and value for money with the UK's lowest call tariffs. THUS's CPS service enables Tele2 to provide domestic voice services for considerably less than BT's standard rates. Tele2's national daytime rate is 70 per cent less and its evening rate 81 per cent less than the equivalent BT charges.

"We chose to work with THUS because its innovative approach and expertise in this area means our customers will get exactly the service they demand. THUS provides a reliable, cost effective service that allows us to deliver excellent value and quality to our customers. This is critical if we are to compete with the incumbent operator," explained Bill Butler, MD, Tele2. "We were also drawn to THUS because it is a like-minded company, intent as we are on creating real competition in the UK's telecommunications market by tackling the incumbent operator."

"By offering a high quality, easy to use and cost effective alternative to BT for domestic telephony, Tele2 is bringing much-needed competition to the UK's telecommunications sector. We believe that this is a very positive development for the industry as a whole and are delighted to support Tele2 in its challenge to BT," commented Bill Allan, CEO, THUS plc. "THUS has been at the forefront of the battle for consumer and corporate choice leading several regulatory campaigns to ensure UK Virtual Network Operators such as Tele2 could operate as effectively in the UK as they could in Europe. We trust Tele2 will have the same level of success in the UK as they have found in the rest of Europe."
