GLASGOW OCTOBER 23 - THUS plc, one of the UK's leading providers of voice, data, Internet and contact centre services, today announced it is to create 250 new jobs at its contact centres in Glasgow.

THUS is recruiting the extra staff to meet increased demand for its award-winning services. The new recruits will bring THUS's contact centre staffing level in Glasgow to nearly 800.

Bill Allan, Chief Executive Officer at THUS plc, said: "As a committed major employer in Scotland, the creation of these jobs provides a significant jobs boost for Glasgow and the West of Scotland."

Gillian Campbell, Head of Contact Centre Services at THUS plc, said: "These jobs are a direct result of customers gaining real value through outsourcing their business to THUS through the quality-assured services we offer. It is essential when running contact centre operations that staff are highly trained and motivated so they can deliver the high level of services that customers rightly expect.

"Our contact centres provide employees with real career development opportunities. Many of the people working for us at our contact centres have been with the company for a long period of time and have seen their career paths develop providing them with more rewarding and responsible positions within the company."

THUS was recently has been awarded the EnergySure Accreditation for its telemarketing operations - only the third contact centre employer in the UK to receive the award. The new accreditation scheme for energy sales agents means that all employees selling gas and electricity in THUS's call centres are trained to adhere to best practice guidelines.

The 250 new staff at THUS's contact centres are the result of an expansion of work on major accounts the company has with customers including ScottishPower, Sky and Book Club Associates.

"This expansion is a major vote of confidence in THUS and in the quality of our contact centre in Glasgow," Gillian Campbell added.
