THUS Joins the Fight Against Rogue Sales People

THUS Contact Centre Services Receives EnergySure Accreditation

LONDON, UK: October 16, 2003 - THUS plc, one of the UK's leading providers of voice, data, Internet and contact centre services, today announced that it has been awarded the EnergySure Accreditation for its outbound telemarketing operations. The new accreditation scheme for energy sales agents means that all employees working in THUS's call centres are trained to adhere to best practice guidelines. THUS is only the third contact centre in the United Kingdom to receive this certification for its staff.

EnergySure is an on-line database of approved energy sales people and known rogue salespeople. The creation of EnergySure gives energy companies an acceptable benchmark by which they can measure their own sales employees and those of outsourced providers such as THUS. Rogue salespeople using dubious tactics are increasingly being recognised by consumer organisations as a problem. In a recent survey commissioned by Energywatch, the independent gas and electricity consumer watchdog, research group NOP found that 54% of 1,984 consumers interviewed felt pressurised by energy telesales and door-to-door sales representatives.

"We believe that the EnergySure accreditation will clearly mark THUS out as the supplier of choice for UK energy companies," said Gillian Campbell, head of contact centres."The accreditation provides assurance to energy companies that when we contact potential customers on their behalf they will be treated professionally and that their brand reputation will be enhanced and not damaged."

"I am delighted to confirm that THUS has been awarded EnergySure Accreditation for its outbound telemarketing operations," said Keith Jones, ScottishPower National Compliance Manager. "The accreditation scheme means that sales representatives that abuse their position and fail to deliver to the tough standards set by EnergySure can no longer simply move on to another unsuspecting supplier."
