THUS Completes Hosting Portfolio With Co-Location Service THUS plc, one of the UK's leading providers of voice, data, Internet and contact centre services, today launched its first 'off-the-shelf' web co-location service to complete its hosting product portfolio. The service was designed in response to customer demand and follows the development of bespoke co-location services for a number of customers. It allows companies whose web operations are intensive and business critical, such as service providers and shared hosting resellers, to achieve a more cost effective solution and reduce the complexity of managing their web operations while retaining a high degree of control. Costs tied up in physical space, facilities, personnel and other resources are reduced, while companies retain control of hardware, operating systems, server software and applications. Customers also benefit from more than 10 years of hosting and networking experience through THUS's market-leading Demon brand. "Co-location enables our customers to focus on the web capabilities that support their business objectives, while we handle the nuts and bolts, like security and guaranteed access to high bandwidth. We have been developing bespoke co-location services for our customers on an ad hoc basis for several years, and decided to launch an "off-the-shelf" product because demand for the service has grown dramatically," commented Megan Firkin, Head of Hosting, THUS plc. She continued, "The co-location service completes our hosting portfolio and means we can cater for any requirement at any level quickly and easily. Unlike some of our competitors, particularly the pure-play co-location providers, we can offer our customers a flexible service. Customers can upgrade their hosting service painlessly with a fully managed migration as their needs change, and can outsource as much or as little of the management as they need to. We can also link their web hosting with other services, such as storage area networking." THUS's service has been built to remove Internet connectivity hassles from the customers' workload, offer high-speed access regardless of the quantity of users, and provide end users with an improved online experience. Customer servers are kept in the core of THUS's high-bandwidth national network to prevent 'bandwidth bottlenecks', and the entire process is managed and billed in a predictable way to prevent any financial surprises. The web co-location service, physically located in state of the art hosting centres in London and Warrington, will be offered through THUS's direct sales force and Channel Partners. Customers will be able to alter the size or functionality of the service as their business grows, with options for managed firewalls; additional bandwidth; and DNS support. |
