Demon Internet to provide 24 hours a day permanent access to the Internet at fixed price without the need for a second telephone line

Thus plc is pleased to announce the full commercial launch of it's ADSL ("Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line") product, enabling Demon customers - business or residential -affordable permanent connection to the Internet, offering greater reliability and speed than using either a modem or ISDN connection.

ADSL provides a permanent, high-speed connection using a standard analogue phone line and enables customers to make voice calls using a traditional telephone at the same time as using the Internet.

The launch of the ADSL service follows extensive commercial trials with over 500 customers across the United Kingdom by Demon Internet. Thus was the largest participant in the trials, using over 47% of lines made available to telecoms operators.

Demon's ADSL service provides customers with 24 hour fixed connection, a fixed Internet Protocol address, denoting your distinct permanent presence on the Internet, instant access to email, no dial-up charges to your Internet Service Provider and no missing of telephone calls whilst using the Internet.

The business benefits of this include enabling all businesses to benefit with permanent access to the Internet without having to purchase a leased line, improved productivity, efficiency and greater budgetary control. Residential customers benefit from faster, more resilient download times, more reliable access than that offered by traditional ISPs and a better quality of service.

First customer installations are expected in July.
