press release 15/12/1999
Demon becomes the UK's number 1 Thus, through its premier Internet and data solutions brand Demon, has been announced as the UK's most popular web hosting company according to new figures published by Netcraft. The survey, undertaken among eight million website addresses, illustrates that in November this year, Demon hosted a total of 154,785 websites, placing it firmly as the UK's number one and seventh in the world. Over the past 12 months, Thus has continued to grow through its Demon Internet brand and has shown a substantial increase in the number of websites the company hosts. Netcraft's figures show that since October 1998, Demon has seen a steady month on month increase in customers, with the sharpest increase occurring between July and August this year. Netcraft's figures build on the recent good news for Thus and its Demon brand, which was rated as the second best ISP on the planet, in the December issue of Internet Magazine. The survey, which was carried out in secret by the Magazine, rigorously evaluated the top 30 ISPs. A team of reporters from the magazine posed as ordinary customers and set up an account with every ISP, assessing four main categories. The categories examined by the team included the quality of technical support, ease of installation, performance and overall value for money. Demon scored particularly highly for the level of knowledge of its technical support team and installation CD. The magazine summed up by saying that: "Demon impressed us with the overall standard of its service. The whole thing said quality." One of the key attractions of Demon is that it provides a number of different web hosting services, targeted to customers with different needs, whether it be a Small-Medium Sized Enterprise (SME) using the website for business or a household creating a site for fun:
"The key to our success is working with our customers to ensure that Thus, through its Demon brand, offers the best range of products and services technology can provide. We are constantly improving the service customers receive, which we believe has been reflected in Netcraft's figures. We hope to see our position as the UK's number one web host at the top strengthen further as even more service improvements are made over the forthcoming months," commented Phil Male, Technical Director for Thus. |
